I'm usually met with a blank stare then a look of confusion whenever I choose to open up about my goals. It's simply because society hasn't gotten accustomed to a certain way of thinking; we're taught to work hard, save every penny, live below our means, in hopes of retiring comfortably but unfortunately around half of the American households have no retirement accounts at all, around 29% of households age 55 and older have neither retirement savings nor a pension, now this should set off an alarm for us; did you know Social Security trust funds that pay retirement and disability benefits could possibly be depleted by 2035.....uh that's in 17 years, that's pretty soon if you ask me, now no need to panic, we're obviously witnessing a broke system. What we have been taught is just not working, what we have believed in when it came to money just doesn't fit in this day and age; I don't even know if it ever truly worked....but financial illiteracy is at an all time high within this country and it has broken too many marriages, homes, and souls. And it's not our fault, it wasn't even taught in school nor was it freely given away, most of us learned that money was evil and only the bad guys were rich therefore subconsciously we feared money which in return turned our desire away from learning about finances or turned us towards stupid tactics in order to make more money . But things are changing right now in our lifetime; no money is not evil but the love for it sure can be, yes good people can have riches too...in fact good people should have riches in order to make a bigger impact upon the Earth, and learning about finances should not be hard or stressful.
Learning different things pertaining to finances has really lit a fire under me, I do not want to penny pinch as I work my butt off just so I can hope I can scratch and survive by the time I'm in my 60's. This is not the dream for me and unfortunately it is a common nightmare for others. My goal is to become fully self employed within three years then retire within my business hopefully within several years. This will make me retire by the ago of 35, I know this may seem like a crazy idea or a far fetched dream but I truly know in my heart that I can make this happen and if not....I was a couple of years off ;). Now I definitely can not use the old tactics that has been handed down to us, this will require a fresh set of thinking and the first step is the mindset of abundance; know that there is enough out there for me to achieve my goals no matter what so called "financial crisis" the news speaks of. I've already set up my own LLC., I've been slowly getting my feet wet with stocks, I'm setting up multiple savings accounts, learning ways to save on taxes, and so much more and I would love for you guys to join me on this journey and hopefully achieve your own financial goals. This blog will give deep insight of my own experience and gold nuggets of financial knowledge I feel will help you along the way so be on the look out.
BTW: Are you in any debt?
How likely do you feel you can achieve financial independence without a 9 to 5 job?
Gaining economic independence is one of my main goals I want to obtain within the next 2-7 years. I will use this blog to hold myself accountable and hopefully motivate you to strive for the same goal as I give a personal insight of my own experience while dropping a few golden nuggets of financial knowledge in order to help you with your financial goals.
